West County Country Club
Hello and thank you for your interest in the West County Country Club!
We are a quarterly gathering of musicians in Sonoma County who love to play 20th century country music! We perform at The Forestville Club, on highway 116 in Forestville, usually on the last Thursday of the chosen month.
However, Covid has made this difficult as of late! Nevertheless, we persist, and we are attempting to bounce back and fill some vacancies in our backline/ house band.
We have bass, drums, two rhythm guitarists and a few singers who come to sit in. If you sing you are welcome to choose a song to sing as well! Harmony singers are always appreciated.
What we seek now is an experienced tele player for lead guitar. Someone who can play two sets of varied classic twangy bendy guitar, and open to having people sit in with the group.
Here’s how WCCC works. It’s not really a band, but a club, choose your own adventure:
I am the musical director and general shenanigans organizer. I like to pick a theme. For example, the last one we did before the covid mask encore was “The Bakersfield Sound”. Members that were able to choose a song that fit the theme I placed in the first set, and folks who did just general country songs I put in the second set. So the first set is more of a show and the second more of a jam.
I put a youtube wish list together, send it out to members of the club, and people choose songs and get back to me. Then I make a set list with the singer’s requested keys and send it out to whoever has said they will be the backline for that next gathering. We generally have one rehearsal with the back up band, also in Forestville, and then just go for it.
